Luka Dončić heard the crowd in the Dallas Mavericks’ 142-124 road victory over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night and loved every minute of it.
As “Luka sucks” chants rained down from the stands at Little Caesars Arena and Detroit fans attempted to get under the 25-year-old star’s skin, he was unfazed, posting another triple-double in the process.
After the game, Dončić spoke about the chants, responding pointedly.
“I don’t know why would they do that. I love it. They know it’s not true, and they keep going, so I don’t know,” Dončić said after the game, per Dallas Basketball’s Grant Afseth.
Dončić posted a stat line of 39 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists—his sixth consecutive triple-double—and added three steals and two blocks. If the crowd was trying to find a way to get in his head, the plan didn’t work.
Dončić can extend his streak Monday when the Mavericks (36–28) play at the Chicago Bulls (31–33) on Monday at 8 p.m. ET
