Mavericks’ Luka Doncic (heel injury) on track to debut with Kyrie Irving vs. Kings

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Luka Doncic is on track to play his first Mavericks game with Kyrie Irving on Saturday night.

The Mavericks list Doncic as probable to play Saturday night vs. the Kings after missing four consecutive games with a right heel contusion.

Doncic said Friday the contusion was “still painful” since he struck his heel on the court during a hard fall Feb. 2. But he played a pick-up scrimmage Thursday night and the Mavericks timed his hopeful return to Saturday, the second night of this back to back against the Kings.

With the Mavericks on a three-game winning streak — including two with Irving at the helm since the blockbuster trade — Doncic returns to a squad thriving with a fast-paced offense and eager to make a push up the Western Conference standings with their new-look roster.

If Dallas beats Sacramento on Saturday to finish this five-game road trip at 4-1, they will move into a tie for third place with the Kings in the West with two games remaining before the All-Star break next week.
