Mavericks Lose Another Center to Injury As Daniel Gafford Suffers Right Knee Sprain

Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford suffered a right knee sprain on Monday night vs. the Sacramento Kings and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, ESPN's Shams Charania reported.

Gafford's injury is just one of many for centers on the Mavericks roster right now. The most notable injury at the moment is Anthony Davis's, as he's set to miss a few weeks with an adductor strain. He was just traded to the Mavericks when Luka Doncic was sent to the Los Angeles Lakers in a blockbuster move a couple weeks ago.

The Mavericks are also without center Dereck Lively II right now as he deals with a right ankle stress fracture he suffered a few weeks ago. He will be re-evaluated sometime this month. Additionally, center Dwight Powell is out at least until after the NBA All-Star break with a hip injury.

It was not good timing at all for Gafford to suffer this big of an injury. Gafford's been Dallas' main starter since mid-January.

Right now, Kylor Kelley is the only center listed on the Mavericks' depth chart. It's unfortunate timing as the NBA trade deadline just happened last week.

The 28-26 Mavericks are set to play the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.
