The Mavericks rocked the NBA world in February when they made a blockbuster trade with the Nets that landed them Kyrie Irving, but things started off rocky. The new star duo of Irving and Luka Dončić underperformed to end the 2022–23 season and the team missed the play-in tournament with a 38–44 record.
But things have taken a drastic turn to start the new season. The Mavericks are one of the only two undefeated teams left in the NBA at 4–0 and the electric backcourt is balling. When talking to Dallas Basketball, Irving couldn’t help but gush about Dončić’s approach to the game amid is incredible start to the campaign.
“I think how easy it’s coming [is impressive], but also, he’s doing it in the flow of the game,” Irving said of Dončić’s impressive start to the season. “He’s getting everybody involved. To see it up close as his teammate is even more impressive, especially starting the season. He gets off to fast starts, man. He makes his imprint felt on games, he really impacts the game.”
