Mavericks injury update: Anthony Davis could be shut down for the rest of 2024-25

After a 122-98 loss on Monday night, the Dallas Mavericks are 32-30. The team is 5-5 in their last 10 games and has lost two straight.

It’s been a season from hell for the Dallas Mavericks in 2024-25. On top of trading away All-NBA PG Luka Doncic, top players on the roster have suffered long-term injuries. Kyrie Irving tore his ACL over the weekend and is out for the season. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Mavericks are monitoring Anthony Davis. He mentioned the possibility of shitting AD down for their final 20 games.

Will Anthony Davis play another game for the Mavs this season?

The Lakers traded ten-time all-star Anthony Davis at the 2024-25 deadline. Davis had been with the team for six seasons and helped them win an NBA championship in 2020. Davis played in 312 games for the Lakers and made 310 starts. In 2024-25, he started all 42 games he played in for LA. With Luka Doncic now on the Lakers, Davis was a franchise piece for the Mavs.

In his first game with Dallas, Anthony Davis put on a show. He finished the game with 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks. That all happened in 31 minutes of play, Unfortunately, Davis suffered an adductor strain late in the game. The 31-year-old has missed nine straight games and 14 of his last 15.

On Monday, ESPN’s Shams Charania made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. He discussed how Dallas could potentially shut down Davis for the rest of the season. That would be the dagger in the Mavs’ 2024-25 season. So much has gone wrong for the team and it starts with trading away Luka Doncic. It’s all been downhill since then. With 20 games left in the regular season, will the Mavs make the postseason?
