On Saturday evening, the Mavericks were at home to face the Rockets. Newly acquired big man Anthony Davis made his Dallas debut against Houston. The 31-year-old suffered a non-contact injury in the second half.
According to NBA insiders, Anthony Davis suffered a left adductor strain. The 10-time all-star is expected to miss multiple weeks, which is not ideal for the Mavericks, who recently traded Luka Doncic and received Davis in return. Dallas is 28-25 this season.

Before his injury on Saturday night, Anthony Davis was having a dominant debut for the Mavs. In 31 minutes, Davis scored 26 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, had seven assists, and had three blocks. Dallas still won the game 116-105, but they will be without one of their top players for multiple weeks. Davis suffered a non-contact injury and immediately left the game. After the game on Saturday, head coach Jason Kidd played down the seriousness of Davis’ injury.
Despite what Kidd said, his all-star PF is still going to miss multiple weeks due to an adductor strain. Less than two weeks ago, Davis was dealing with an abdominal injury. Now, he has an adductor injury piled on top of that. While Davis is out, we could see Jason Kidd play Naji Marshall in the starting lineup. He’s played in 40 of their 53 games this season and has 14 starts.
At 28-25, the Mavericks are eighth in the Western Conference. It’s a tight race in the West playoffs and the Mavs cannot afford to lose. The difference between eighth and 11th place is just one-and-a-half games. Dallas is home for their next four games, starting Monday night when they host the Sacramento Kings.
