Maven invests in security software firm Zinc

Maven Capital Partners has announced a funding deal for Northamptonshire-based software firm Zinc Digital Business Solutions.

Zinc, based just outside Northampton, is a software as a service (Saas) firm that specialises in safety, security and critical event management. Its customers include the Environment Agency, Kingfisher and Allied Universal.

Maven says the funding will allow it to invest in sales, marketing and product development - including launching global incident and threat intelligence platform SYNAPSE ‘Analyst’. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Melanie Goward, partner at Maven, said; “We believe that Zinc offers an excellent opportunity for investment into a scaling business that is operating in a market supported by positive sector dynamics.

"The company is led by a very capable team, and they have made good commercial progress to date. Revenues are backed up by strong recurring revenues and a positive deal pipeline of prospective new clients.

"We are delighted to have structured a debt and equity solution which will support the delivery of management’s ambitious targets.”

Joe Zielinski, CEO at Zinc, said: “We are delighted to have Maven as our partner on the journey ahead as we grow our business into a global provider of security and safety incident and risk management software.

"The Maven team have demonstrated great commitment to our business, and we look forward to their support on this new, exciting chapter of Zinc Systems”.

The advisers on the deal included:

  • Legal: Gateley
  • Financial: SME Finance Partners
  • Technical: MSC R&D
  • Commercial: Luminii
  • Management: Confidas People
  • VCT: Roger Blears and Philip Simpson QC
