This season has been utterly chaotic. Even by Chelsea's standards.
With just six more games to go, we are almost at the end of the 2022/23 season, a campaign that has seen the Blues with two different permanent managers, two interim ones and a whole lot of drama on and off the pitch.
Chelsea are in 11th place in the Premier League table with European football – of any sort – seemingly out of the question now. Still Frank Lampard, the current interim head coach, continues to insist the remainder of the campaign is still crucial for the club.

However, judging by Wednesday evening's performance against Brentford, it certainly didn't look that way. Behind the scenes, though, there is plenty going on to ensure the club have a positive future, with the search for a new permanent head coach still underway.
Mauricio Pochettino is the clear front-runner for the job but a deal to bring the Argentine to Stamford Bridge is not yet finalised. There is plenty of confidence from both sides, though, that the appointment will be made.
