Mauricio Pochettino gives fresh update on PSG future as he remains in running for Man United job

Mauricio Pochettino admits he doesn’t know whether he’ll still be in charge of Paris Saint-Germain next season.

The Argentine remains in the running to become Manchester United’s next permanent manager but now finds himself behind Erik ten Hag in the pecking order. The Ajax boss is now United’s preferred candidate to take over from interim manager Ralf Rangnick during the summer.

PSG are expected to sack Pochettino following their capitulation against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Having led 2-0 in their last-16 tie with just 30 minutes left, the French side threw away their advantage as they crashed out via a Karim Benzema hat-trick.

The 50-year-old has admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds for him. However, he has insisted he wants the chance to make amends with PSG next season.

“We are competitive by nature. This kind of challenge is an exciting one to take on. To give the possibility to fight for this (Champions League) title, it’s exciting,” Pochettino said.

“Beyond the sadness, to give PSG the possibility to fight to fulfil their objectives is always a great challenge. And yes, we feel capable of it.

“Afterwards, it’s a question of exchanges. We will have to sit down with the club to exchange. To find the best formula. To see the vision, the future, the ideas, the project.”

Addressing his future, Pochettino added: “We will analyse everything at the end of the season. We will see at the end of the season (if I stay). It will be the club’s decision.”
