Mauricio Pochettino given bizarre Harry Kane transfer hope amid Chelsea training ground decision

Chelsea have been given fresh hope of signing Harry Kane despite strong competition from Manchester United and Bayern Munich. The 29-year-old striker faces an increasingly uncertain future at Tottenham, with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.

Prior to the departure of Fabio Paratici in April, football.london understood that the Italian had been in contact with Kane's entourage to discuss an extension. It's said that the England international is open to discussing a new deal but, as it stands, he's yet to commit his long-term future to the Lilywhites.

With Kane expected to seek pastures new, either this summer or next, Old Trafford and the Allianz Arena have been mooted as potential destinations. Chelsea were briefly linked with the Spurs captain earlier in the summer but, after turning their attention to Nicolas Jackson, speculation of a move to Stamford Bridge died down – until now.

According to The Telegraph, Kane has commissioned the building of a new family home to be close to Wentworth Golf Cub in Surrey, which is just 15 miles from Cobham training ground where Mauricio Pochettino will soon take charge. The report states that the striker ordered the building of the property a while ago, but it's said to now be close to completion.

The Telegraph add that the Wentworth Estate said they do not comment on residents nor any planning applications which are granted by the local authority, Runnymede council. While many Chelsea fans might be getting their hopes up, it must be said that most footballers who play for a west London outfit are likely to reside within a 15 miles radius of the club's training ground – stretching from Godalming in Surrey to as far as Ealing, Chiswick, Fulham and Streatham.

Despite the building of a new family home in Surrey, Chelsea don't appear to be in the race to sign Kane. In fact, it's Bayern Munich who seem to be pushing the hardest to secure his signature.

According to German outlet BILD, the Bundesliga champions have agreed personal terms with the Tottenham talisman, although they're yet to agree a deal with Daniel Levy. The report states that Bayern submitted an opening bid of £70million for Kane, but it was swiftly rejected.

BILD add that Spurs are hoping for at least £100million, which is some way off what the Bavarian's are prepared to pay. If Kane fails to find a new club in the summer – or in January – then he'll become a free agent, and Ian Wright believes Pochettino can sweet talk him into a controversial switch.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, the former Arsenal striker said: "That’s the only thing Tottenham fans wouldn’t be able to deal with, if he went to Chelsea. Can you imagine, if Pochettino went to Chelsea, with the young players he has got and the fact that he is so good with that kind of player?

"That progressive young player. When you look at the dressing room he has left, with respect to dealing with Neymar, [Lionel] Messi and [Kylian] Mbappe.

"The way he can manage that situation, with young players, with Harry Kane and with the players Chelsea have got. That’s scary. That could be scary for someone.

"If he had to sit down with somebody, you probably think Mauricio could tempt him there," added Wright. "You are talking about the legacy of Spurs.

"That’s the thing that would bother him, more than anything. He is loyal. Would he want to go all the way to Manchester (and leave London)?"
