Mauricio Pochettino closes in on seventh summer signing as Chelsea agree £4m transfer

Chelsea could soon confirm their seventh summer signing with another young star set to join the Under-21s squad. In terms of senior arrivals, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson are likely the only two who will make an immediate impact for Mauricio Pochettino, with Diego Moreira and Alex Matos expected to compete in Premier League 2.

Kendry Paez and Dujuan Richards are both on the books of Chelsea after sealing summer moves but will officially begin their playing careers at Stamford Bridge in 2025 and 2024, respectively. Securing marquee first-team exits has been the priority for Todd Boehly and co. with 11 Chelsea players already leaving in just three weeks of the summer window being open.

Bryan Fiabema, Xavier Simons, Dujon Sterling and Charlie Webster, who has joined Herenveen on loan, are the stars to seal an exit without breaking into the senior squad. Nonetheless, from seven major departures, over £200million has been generated with the majority of funds arriving through transfers for Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount with £150million coming the way of Chelsea through the sale of the trio.

Chelsea also received fees for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kalidou Koulibaly Edouard Mendy, while N'Golo Kante Cesar Azpilicueta have left on free transfers. Chelsea have identified several first-team targets but they appear to be making more progress on acquiring academy talent with another addition to be made in the coming days.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have signed Ishe Samuels-Smith from Everton for £4million. In the report it is noted that he will slot straight into a refreshed Under-21s set up alongside new arrivals Matos and Moreira next season.

A £15million deal is also in place for the Blues to sign Brazilian wonderkid Angelo from Santos. The 18-year-old will reportedly be the first player sent on loan to new partner club Strasbourg. His fellow Brazil international Andrey Santos also seemed to confirm the move is imminent on social media.

Santos is another player who could be sent out on loan to get regular first-team minutes with Porto showing a strong interest. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Pochettino wants to first see him in action during pre-season before making a final decision.
