Mauricio Pochettino Chelsea contract details revealed as deal edges closer to completion

Mauricio Pochettino will travel to London this week to sign his contract at Chelsea, according to reports.

The former Tottenham boss has agreed terms to become Todd Boehly's first permanent manager of his tenure at Stamford Bridge, football.london understands. The move comes after a series of positive talks with co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.

It's expected that the Argentine will take over from Frank Lampard in the summer, with the Blues heading to the United States to face Wrexham, Brighton, Newcastle, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund prior to the start of the 2023/24 season.

Following reports that the 51-year-old had agreed terms to join the Blues, it is now said that Pochettino is returning to London from Barcelona this week to sign his contract and kickstart his planning for next season.

According to The Telegraph, Pochettino will return to England and commit his future to an initial three year deal - two less than Graham Potter. The former Spurs boss will spend most of the summer making crucial decisions on the playing squad, with reducing the size of the squad the priority.

The report also claims that Chelsea will try to make two or three key signings, including a new goalkeeper. With the current season still ongoing, Pochettino will get over two months of preparation time.

Next season, the Premier League season starts on Saturday, August 12, with the Blues' first pre-season friendly taking place on July 19, meaning there will be enough time for the Argentine to get his feet under the table.
