Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign a new striker as he looks to reshape his squad ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. football.london understands a new goalkeeper and central midfielder are among the Blues' priorities this summer.
Kai Havertz struggled to lead the line during a dismal season for Chelsea as they recorded their worst points haul since the 1977/78 campaign - finishing 12th on 44 points. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to leave the club this summer whilst Pochettino has opted not to bring Joao Felix back in on loan next term, with the Portuguese forward returning to Atletico Madrid.
football.london reported last year that Christopher Nkunku has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Blues and will complete a move to Stamford Bridge this summer. The Frenchman has operated as a No.9 for RB Leipzig and picked up the Bundesliga Golden Boot award after scoring 16 goals - but Pochettino still wants a new striker to start in attack.

A report from German news outlet BILD has revealed that the west Londoners are in the race to sign Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic ahead of next season - along with Bayern Munich and Manchester United. The Serbian striker scored 14 goals in 42 appearances last term and has been linked with a shock move away from Turin this summer.
Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has revealed that Pochettino sees Vlahovic as the perfect man to lead the line under his stewardship. Galetti told GIVEMESPORT: “The Blues could make a concrete move for the Serbian, especially because the next manager, [Mauricio] Pochettino, considers Dusan the ideal striker for his tactical idea.
“The player likes the destination and reaching an agreement on personal terms wouldn’t be a problem. Let’s keep an eye also on Bayern Munich, who have Vlahovic at the top of their list along with Harry Kane.”
Vlahovic has shown during his time in Italy that he can guarantee goals and he would prove to be a huge asset to Chelsea. Pochettino clearly has a plan in mind for how to reshape the Blues' squad ahead of his first season in charge and Todd Boehly will be keen to support the 51-year-old after a poor campaign.
