Maurice Louis-Dreyfus could join his brother Kyril at Sunderland with takeover drawing nearer

Maurice Louis-Dreyfus could join his twin brother Kyril, at Sunderland, in some capacity with the proposed takeover of the club nearing a conclusion, according to reports.

The Athletic claim that the Sunderland are confident an approval is 'imminent' this week, having previously expected EFL confirmation of the takeover last Friday.

Once the deal is ratified by the EFL, Kyril is expected to take on the role as chairman at the club.

The report also adds that the 23-year-old is keen to appoint his brother Maurice as a director at the Stadium of Light.

It's believed that Maurice has already set up a base in the UK, but would have to be approved by the EFL before being appointed as a director.

Speaking about the takeover after the Shrewsbury Town defeat, Sunderland head coach Lee Johnson said: “Obviously people will have seen Kyril at the latest game, that was quite well documented and I expect us to get used to having him around the place, seeing his face and introducing his style from the top.

“At the same time, I can’t give you any definitive timescale or chronological order of when that may happen or when it may not.

“Everything I hear is that it’s really, really close – about as close as it can get.

"But at the same time this is football, isn’t it? I wouldn’t go live with the story just yet because I wouldn’t want you to look silly."

Kyril was once again in attendance as he saw the Black Cats thrash Doncaster Rovers 4-1 at the Stadium of Light.
