Maura Higgins reveals she was sexually assaulted while asleep in a taxi in Ireland

Maura Higgins has revealed she was sexually assaulted by a taxi driver in Ireland after falling asleep in the back of his car.

During an Instagram Q&A, the Love Island star opened up about the harrowing ordeal after a fan asked her about her “worst experience with a man”.

The 31-year-old influencer replied: “The worst one I’ve never ever, ever opened up to any of you about, and I don’t even think I’m ready yet. It was like probably one of the scariest things that’s ever happened to me.”

She added: “I had an incident with a taxi driver before, a long time ago in Ireland. And silly me, I fell asleep. My friends were dropped off before me and I was being dropped off alone because I lived alone at the time.

“And I woke up and his hand was right up my skirt.

“Honestly, I sobered up so quickly. I memorised his taxi number so quick and still remembered it the next day.”

Maura also revealed she is still single despite being linked to MK Dons footballer Connor Wickham.

“Yes I’m single. I’m very single. I couldn’t be any more f***ing single. I may as well just go into Love Island again.”

Asked if she goes for “looks or personality” in a man, she replied: “I went for looks before and it didn’t work, and I went for personality before and it didn’t work. So basically we’re all f****d!”

Maura shot to fame after finishing fourth alongside dancer Curtis Pritchard on Love Island in 2019.

The couple split around six months after leaving the Mallorcan villa in early 2020.
