Mau Nieto, From 'Me caigo de risa', Reveals Cancer Diagnosis

Mau Nieto, renowned Mexican comedian and current host of the hit show 'Me Caigo de Risa,' deeply moved his followers by sharing a personal experience that changed his life: he was diagnosed with cancer thanks to his wife.

The story began unexpectedly, almost by chance. Mau noticed a small pimple on his chest, which he initially didn't give much thought to. "It was just a tiny little thing," he said in a video posted on his Instagram account, never imagining that the tiny spot would become a health red flag. However, his wife, Carlita, a dermatologist, noticed something Mau had overlooked: the pimple not only changed in size but also in color and texture, clear signs that something wasn't right.

"He told me it wasn't normal, that it was best to get him checked out," the comedian said, his throat tight. After his appointment, Carlita confirmed her suspicions: Mau had skin cancer, one of the most common types, but fortunately, it was detected early and without serious complications.

"With Carlita's help, they removed it and sent it to pathology," he explained. In the video, Mau expressed his gratitude and relief at learning that the surgery was successful. Although he still has to wait for the final results to determine the depth of the lesion, the initial signs are encouraging. "It wasn't that deep; in theory, that's good because it means it didn't spread," he said, reassuring his fans.

Mau, accustomed to making people laugh, decided to turn his testimony into an opportunity to raise awareness. Between jokes and reflections, he urged his followers to protect their skin, use sunscreen, and see a doctor if anything suspicious changes occur. "Honestly, don't take it lightly. Luckily, I have Carlita who takes care of me, but not everyone has a dermatologist at home," he expressed sincerely.

Since 2012, Mau Nieto has built a solid career in comedy, excelling in stand-up and, later, on television. His Netflix special Viviendo sobrio... desde el bar in 2018 catapulted him to national prominence, and his inclusion in 'Me caigo de risa' (I Fall Laughing) in 2023 has earned him even more public affection.

Today, beyond the laughter, her testimony is a reminder of the importance of listening to our bodies and heeding their warnings in time. "We spend so much time in the sun or under stress, we don't realize it. But taking care of our skin is no joke," Nieto concluded.
