Matty Healy reportedly wanted to 'settle down' with Taylor Swift prior to their reported break-up recently, with him said to have been seeing a "long-term future" with her.
The two singers are rumoured to have enjoyed a short-lived romance together in recent months but it was reported earlier this week that the pair have now parted ways.
Taylor, 33, and Matty, 34 - understood to have known each other for years - are said to both be "incredibly busy" on tours and it's claimed "nothing complicated" happened.
Prior to reports about their rumoured break-up, it was claimed that Matty saw the relationship as serious and that he wanted to 'settle down and have children' with Taylor.
A source had told Closer magazine : "Matty's telling the world this is the real deal - they're building a long-term future, and marriage and kids are his goal, assuming it all works out."
The source however said at the time that Taylor's friends were under the impression that it was a "rebound" relationship that has the "potential for something more".
It was further claimed by the source that Matty was trying to "play things coy" in public but that he wasn't "holding back" while talking about it with his loved ones.
The source had stated: "He's letting it be known just how smitten he is and that it's the most serious he's been about a romance for an extremely long time, if ever."
Matty - who is a member of Brit band The 1975 - was said to have pointed to other "whirlwind, long-lasting" romances and suggested he and Taylor could have the same.
It was reported on Monday that Taylor and Matty had ended their rumoured relationship, with a source later telling the Mirror that the pair "still care" for each other.
The source said they are both "incredibly busy" at the moment in the middle of world tours, with Taylor on her the Eras tour while the 1975 are on their At Their Very Best tour.
Taylor's tour began earlier this year and is scheduled to continue for a few more months, whilst Matty embarked on his most recent tour last year and it's due to end later this year.
It was further claimed by the source earlier this week about the two singers: "They have been friends for years and are still friends. Nothing complicated happened. It's just life."
