Matty Healy angers The 1975 fans with peculiar rant seemingly 'mocking' Yungblud

Matty Healy, the frontman for The 1975 is known for his unusual antics on stage like eating raw meat and creating viral autotune sentences. However, fans are also aware he has a tendency to say and do things off-stage too that don't always hit the mark.

The latest unexpected antic from the 33-year-old has disappointed fans as he appeared to impersonate fellow artist Yungblud in an Instagram story.

The video seems to mock Yungblud, as Healy rants with the words 'emo' written across his face in an exaggerated accent but it hasn't landed well with fans who are calling it "embarrassing".

On his Instagram on February 19, among a series of memes, Healy posted a clip of Yungblud, real name Dominic Richard Harrison, performing at a recent concert. The pop-punk singer sits on a toilet, smoking and reading a book with Healy captioning the post "I feel a bit responsible and I am really sorry".

The next video has upset fans though as Healy can be seen with a black and white filter over his face, with 'emo' written across both cheeks. In an accent, Healy said: "Guys, I'm so f***ing angry because someone's blowing themselves up in the f***ing air … in the Ukraine.

"We're not gonna stand for that because we’re the f***ing children, the f***ing underrated f***ing youth generation, and that's what we stand for."

He added: "I don't stand for stuff, I stand against stuff, it's not a particular thing that I stand for, I just stand against stuff and it tends to be the most morally obvious stuff y'know that like everyone stands for… F*** the patriarchy!"

This comes after Yungblud appeared to hit out at Healy earlier this month over his controversial podcast appearance on the Adam Friedland Show where the 1975 frontman mocked accents and mischaracterised Ice Spice's heritage.

The 25-year-old wrote: "Love listening to three privileged white dudes sit around and objectify a young black female artist who's blowing up. Welcome to your 30's I guess."

Fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment in the increasingly controversial stunts pulled by Healy.

One asked: "Why does Matty Healy wanna ruin his band and his band's reputation so badly someone explain it to me."

Someone else simply wrote: "Yikes, not a good look."

"When I thought things couldn't get worse about Matty Healy here he comes proving me wrong," said another user, while a fourth added: "Someone take his phone away."

Meanwhile, others blamed fans of The 1975 for giving "so much attention and clout" to the singer that "he thinks he can get away with everything" now.
