Matthijs de Ligt update emerges as Liverpool could make millions from transfer exit

Liverpool have got their man.

Darwin Nunez's arrival was officially announced by the club on Tuesday evening after the Reds agreed a deal with Benfica to pay an initial fee of £64.1million (€75m) with a possible £12.8m (€15m) in appearance-related add-ons and further £8.5m (€10m) depending on team success.

This comes after the exciting arrival of Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho as Jurgen Klopp's side look to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Transfer rumours will continue to emerge in the coming weeks and, below, we have rounded up the latest gossip relating to the Reds.

Who?

Ki-Jana Hoever

Where?

Voetbal international

What?

Former Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever is attracting transfer interest from clubs in his home country and could be on the move this summer.

Were this to happen, the Reds would be set to financially benefit after including a 15 per cent sell-on clause into the £13million deal that saw Hoever join Wolves in 2020.

The Athletic reported last week that the Dutchman is is an option to head out on loan, with his former club Ajax mentioned as a possible option. PSV are also pursuing a transfer, as mentioned in the above article, with talks over a transfer already underway.

Who?

Matthijs de Ligt

Where?

Il Corriere dello Sport

What?

Chelsea are understood to be leading the race to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, which is also the case in the above story as Klopp's side are again listed as one of the sides interested in a deal.

Thomas Tuchel's side are, somewhat understandably, viewed as the Dutchman's most likely destination at this stage following the Londoners' recent departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

De Ligt wants to lower his release clause of €120million, but the above report claims negotiations between the player and the Serie A giants have now been put on hold.

Who?

Calvin Ramsay

Where?

Sky Sports

What?

Aberdeen are reportedly holding firm over defender Calvin Ramsay and have upped their asking price for the teenager.

The ECHO recently reported Liverpool had made contact with the Scottish Premiership side regarding a move and were in dialogue over possible add-ons. It is understood the fee Jurgen Klopp's side would be expected to pay is around the £4million mark, excluding bonus payments, but Sky Sports have stated Aberdeen are searching for a £10m package should they offload one of their brightest talents.

As part of this deal, the Dons would receive £5million upfront plus an additional £5m in add-ons. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will match such demands.
