Matthew Stafford was asked if he’s finally over getting booed by Lions fans

It had to be a strange couple games for Matthew Stafford. The longtime Lions quarterback spent the first 12 years of his career in Detroit before leaving via a trade to the Rams and winning the Super Bowl in his first season.

And given the overwhelmingly positive relationship Stafford had with the city of Detroit, many would have expected a warmer reception for the Rams quarterback. But it’s been two consecutive games in Detroit for Stafford … and two consecutive mixed receptions.

After losing last season’s wild-card matchup at Ford Field, the Rams were back in Detroit again on Sunday. Stafford and his wife, Kelly, were both critical of the negative reception in that playoff meeting. And when Sunday’s response brought similar boo birds, the Rams quarterback was asked postgame if he’s finally over the boos.

Stafford’s response was simple: “I am, yeah.”

And then when asked if Detroit is just another place to play, Stafford responded with, “Yup.”

Still, the scheduling gods did him no favors there with back-to-back games in Detroit. The Lions went on to win both games as well.
