Matthew Stafford uncertain if he’ll throw during Rams’ OTAs due to elbow injection

The Los Angeles Rams are beginning offseason workouts this week and it was revealed that Matthew Stafford didn’t throw any passes. Following Monday’s workout session, Stafford shared that he’s uncertain if he’ll throw any passes during OTAs due to an injection he received in his right elbow after the Super Bowl.

Stafford sustained an elbow injury in the latter portion of the 2021 season, but he was able to play through the ailment into the playoffs. After not throwing passes on the first day of OTAs, Sean McVay iterated that the Rams likely won’t have Stafford throwing until closer to training camp in July.

As of right now, there isn’t any reason to be concerned with Stafford’s lack of throwing at this point of the offseason. The Rams are likely just erring on the side of caution with their veteran signal-caller as they want him to be 100% healthy before he begins throwing.

Upon signing Allen Robinson in free agency this offseason, Los Angeles will want to see Stafford targeting his new weapon to build chemistry. Even though fans were anxious to see Stafford throwing to Robinson, Cooper Kupp, and Van Jefferson sooner rather than later, we’ll have to wait until closer to training camp.
