The Los Angeles Rams’ entire offseason revolves around whether Matthew Stafford will remain the team’s quarterback for another year.
The good news is, he plans to play in 2025. That’s according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, who reported on Wednesday that from what he understands, Stafford expects to continue playing next season, which will be his 17th season in the NFL.
The only problem for the Rams is he’ll likely need an adjusted contract in order to stay with Los Angeles.
Here’s what Rapoport said about his current deal.
“He’s due $27 million next year not guaranteed on his contract and I have a hard time imagining Matthew Stafford plays for that,” he said. “Last year before training camp, also right before the buzzer, I believe it ended up being a one-year, $40 million deal. I would imagine they’ll have to look at his contract again.”

Stafford has two years left on his contract and a $4 million bonus due on the third day of the new league year in March, so the Rams will want to get a new deal done before that. It’s hard to see a scenario where the two sides don’t work something out to keep Stafford in Los Angeles for at least another year, considering how well this partnership has worked for the last four seasons.
Stafford, 37, certainly looked like he could play several more years in the NFL when he was throwing darts all over the field this past season, so it’s no surprise he wants to continue suiting up on Sundays.
