After playing indoors for the last three weeks, the Los Angeles Rams will head to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in what could be difficult weather conditions on Sunday afternoon.
The forecast is calling for 3-5 inches of snow with a high of 34 degrees and winds of 10-15 mph, something the Rams must prepare for. Matthew Stafford spent most of his career in the NFC North so he’s no stranger to playing in the cold, but it’s not often any quarterback plays in heavy snow.
Stafford probably remembers one snowy game he played more than a decade ago, coincidentally in Philadelphia against the Eagles. It was back on Dec. 8, 2013 when he was a member of the Lions – a Detroit team that was 7-5 going into the game against Philadelphia.
Snow fell throughout the game, at times making it almost impossible to see what was happening on the field. It was particularly bad early on, resulting in a scoreless first quarter and only eight total points in the first half.
Stafford completed just 10 of 25 passes for 151 yards in the 34-20 loss, fumbling it five times but losing just one of those fumbles. LeSean McCoy had a historic game that day, rushing for 217 yards and two touchdowns in what was a franchise record for yards at the time.
It’s not expected to be as snowy on Sunday as it was back in 2013, but it sure looks like the weather will have at least some impact on the Rams-Eagles game.
Whether it’s an inch or five, the Rams will be prepared for the elements in Philly this weekend.
