Matthew Stafford leaves game with thumb injury, replaced by Brett Rypien

Matthew Stafford suffered a thumb injury in the first half against the Dallas Cowboys and while he played the opening series of the second half, he left the game after that touchdown drive. Brett Rypien came in at quarterback on the second possession of the third quarter after Stafford went into the locker room to get his thumb examined further.

He emerged from the locker room after about 10 minutes and returned to the sideline with his thumb taped up heavily, attempting to grip a football to see if he could re-enter the game.

With the score 36-17, it’s unclear if he’ll get back on the field for Los Angeles.
