Matthew Perry has decided to tweak his memoir for future editions and issued an apology to fellow actor Keanu Reeves.
The Friends star, 53, surprisingly criticised the Matrix man, 58, in his book titled Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.
Matthew mentioned Keanu in the 2022 release while reflecting on the deaths of some of his friends, including River Phoenix, who died of a drug overdose in 1993.
Also mentioned was the death of Chris Farley, who passed away in 1997.
The surprising diss saw Matthew write: "River was a beautiful man, inside and out—too beautiful for this world, it turned out.
"It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down. Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?"
But now, following backlash for his choice of words, Matthew has confirmed the segment will no longer feature the 17 Again star's name.
Speaking during a panel at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the weekend, he said: "I said a stupid thing. It was a mean thing to do.
"I pulled his name because I live on the same street. Any future versions of the book will not have his name in it."
He also admitted he would apologise to Keanu in person if he was to ever run into him, reiterating the fact he thought his words were "stupid".
It follows a brief apology shortly after the memoir was released.
On October 26 last year, Matthew told People he actually enjoyed Keanu's work. "I'm actually a big fan of Keanu," he said at the time.
"I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologise. I should have used my own name instead."
In his memoir, Matthew also opened up on why he can't watch the iconic sitcom Friends any more, in which he starred as the affable Chandler Bing.
Matthew battled drug and alcohol addictions throughout the years that he starred in the show.
"I didn’t watch the show, and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine.
"I could tell season by season by how I looked. That’s why I don’t wanna watch it, because that’s what I see."
