Funeral details have been released for the funeral of Co Tyrone teenager Matthew McCallan who was found dead near Fintona on Monday.

Matthew’s body was found after hundreds joined community search efforts in the hours after he was reported missing after he attended a country music night in Fintona.

Concerns have been raised about the PSNI's initial response to the missing person investigation, while a post-mortem examination was carried out on Tuesday.

The Dungannon teen’s remains have now been returned to his family, with his funeral confirmed for this Sunday at 2pm.

The service will take place at St Malachy’s Church, Edendork, with Matthew’s family advising that his wake will be private to close friends and family.

In a social media post, Matthew’s mum Frances said everyone is welcome to attend Sunday’s funeral service.

The PSNI says it is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Matthew’s death, and said it had arranged to meet his family to discuss their concerns around police handling of the investigation. However, Matthew’s mum later said that she had not been contacted about such a meeting.

The PSNI has referred itself to the Police Ombudsman following family concerns over its initial response to the search for Matthew.
