Matteo Guendouzi’s Arsenal exit ‘confirmed’ by Marseille kit promotion video

Marseille appear to have confirmed a deal to sign Matteo Guendouzi by including the midfielder in a promotional video for their new kit despite no official word from the club or Arsenal over a transfer.

The midfielder is widely expected to seal a permanent move to the Ligue 1 side this summer after a successful loan spell. Standard Sport understands the deal is worth around £10million, triggered by a number of set targets including Marseille avoiding relegation from Ligue 1.

Guendouzi's loan spell ended yesterday, on June 30, and remains listed on Arsenal's website among the first-team players, though Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has long considered the youngster not part of plans after a reported string of discipline problems.

The 22-year-old himself recently confirmed his intention to remain at Marseille, aiming a dig at Arsenal's recent repeated failures to qualify for the Champions League in the process.

"Yes, of course (I intend to stay at Marseille)," he said. "I feel very good here, and the objective is to play in the upcoming Champions League campaign.

"I have played matches in the Europa League, and for some time now I've been waiting for this Champions League. I can't wait to be there!"
