Matt Lucas wades in to Will Smith row as comedian also suffers with alopecia like Jada

Bake Off star Matt Lucas joked that he doesn't know how to feel about the joke Chris Rock made at the Oscars this weekend.

Will Smith broke the internet when he slapped the comedian across the face for making a 'GI Jane 2' joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, who shaves her head due to her alopecia.

Matt, who has been suffering from alopecia since he was a child, admitted he is confused about what to feel as he's both a comedian and suffers from the same hair condition.

"I have alopecia AND I'm a comedian who sometimes gets it wrong. I have no idea what I'm supposed to think about last night," he said.

The star, who has had many controversies over his material, later deleted the tweet.

Before he did, fans with alopecia flocked to the comment section to share their thoughts.

"I had Alopecia, I had to shave my head. It came at a time of deep stress in my life, as it always does," one user said.

"I wouldn't want people to take the piss but I wouldn't hit them either. You're right I don't know what to think. I totally think I handled it and looked good like you sir."

Another was disappointed by Will and said: "No one said it was funny. The argument is about whether assaulting a comedian on stage for an insensitive joke is justified (it isn't).

"If Will Smith wasn't rich and famous he absolutely would not have gotten away with it."

On Sunday evening, the Oscars audience and viewers were gobsmacked after the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star smacked Chris.

Chris tried to make light of the situation as Jada visibly rolled her eyes at the joke.

“Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me,” Chris joked with the audience.

He also said: "That was the greatest night in the history of television."

After Will returned to his seat next to Jada, he also yelled out: "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth."

Will later took to his Instagram to issue an apology to Chris, the Williams sisters and the Academy Awards.

In the statement, Will said: "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive.

"My behavior at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes a my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally."

He continued: "I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.

"There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."
