Matt Lucas has celebrated his birthday with his Little Britain comedy partner David Walliams, with the latter posting a rare pic of them together.
The 48-year-old comedy actor was presented with a birthday cake for his special day by Britain's Got Talent judge David, on which "Cake!" was written across in icing as a nod to Matt's Great British Bake Off role and sketches on Little Britain.
The photo, which was posted by David on his Instagram and Twitter, delighted fans as they gushed over seeing the comedy pairing back together again.
They both beamed broad smiles as David held the cake with six colourful candles burning brightly atop.
David captioned the pic on Instagram: "Happy Birthday @realmattlucas "
Matt replied to David in the comments, writing: "Thank you so much. I love the cake! Ca-ake! xxxx"
Among those who wished Matt birthday greetings was Natalie Imbruglia, who recently won ITV's The Masked Singer.
She commented along with red heart and party emojis: "Happy Birthday @realmattlucas "
Matt and David were the nation's favourite comedians in the mid-noughties thanks to Little Britain but by 2011 their relationship had broken down and they stopped speaking for almost a decade.
There had been strains when touring their Little Britain Live show and it was littered with petty fights backstage, of which Matt said they were "suddenly hurling obscenities at each other".
Matt couldn't resist making jibes at David in his book, writing: "Walliams has now sold so many children's books he can probably buy his own private jet, all decked out in pink, with a river inside it for him to swim up."
While David said while promoting his own book, Camp David in 2012, David was asked about his relationship with Matt on Radio 4, to which he replied: "We're very different people and probably want different things and had different working methods."
As the lockdowns eased during the pandemic, the pair were pictured together walking dogs, which gave hope of a long hoped for reconciliation.
Fans of Matt Lucas praised him this week over his weight loss after he appeared on BBC's The One Show.
Matt has spoken about his weight loss on the Lorraine show, admitting he packed on the pounds during lockdown, but was now making efforts to shed some pounds.
Viewers were impressed with one writing on Twitter : "Matt Lucas is looking fabulous on #TheOneShow tonight. He's very charming to meet too!"
Another gushed: ""Matt Lucas is looking great on BBC The One Show! Looking well! #TheOneShow @RealMattLucas."
