Matt Hancock's girlfriend Gina Coladangelo quit charity job before his I'm A Celeb stint

Matt Hancock's girlfriend Gina Coladangelo quit her charity role just days before the former Health Secretary was announced he was joining the current series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Coladangelo landed in Brisbane on Wednesday as she showed her support for the disgraced MP as the eviction process got under way after Thursday's episode with public voting to keep their favourite celebrity in the Australian rainforest.

She joins the partners of the other celebrities on the other side of the bridge for their impending departures from the hit ITV1 show over the coming days.

However, Coladangelo will be in no rush to return to the UK after she stepped away from her marketing and communications job for charity UK Youth on November 2, less than two months after taking on the role.

Companies House records show that the former parliamentary aide joined the charity on September 22 but lasted just under six weeks before resigning, with the move sparking speculation about her and MP Hancock's future after the show.

He has reportedly signed a £400,000 contract to appear on I'm A Celebrity and rumours have suggested that the couple could try and launch a media career.

The MP for West Suffolk has mentioned Gina several times during his stint in the Australian jungle and said how much he was looking forward to seeing her when he is evicted from the show.

He resigned as Health Secretary in June 2021 after CCTV footage caught him kissing Coladangelo, who worked part-time for him at the Department of Health, and breaching social distancing rules.

She was the communications director for Oliver Bonas - the firm founded by her husband Oliver Tress - at the time of the revelation and resigned from both roles.

The steamy clinch ended his career as a cabinet minister and led to the demise of his marriage to his wife Martha, but Hancock told his fellow campmates Gina is the "best thing to happen to him" from the scandal.

Explaining his reasons for kissing her and breaking lockdown guidelines, he told the Babatunde: “I messed up and I fessed up. I resigned and it’s no excuse but I fell in love, right? That also had a lot of other consequences obviously.”

This year the friends and family - and contestants once evicted - will no longer get to stay in the luxurious Palazzo Versace hotel on the Gold Coast.

In a major shake-up by ITV, they will instead be staying at JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort and Spa. The hotel is close to the Versace hotel but it is thought to be costing ITV less money for the accommodation.
