Matt Hancock 's girlfriend Gina Coladangelo was left tearful ahead of her reunion with the disgraced MP following his exit on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
The former Health Secretary was a shock finalist in the Australian jungle as he finished in third place behind Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner and Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott.
Mr Hancock has arguably been the most controversial celebrity to take part in the hit ITV reality show.
He played a prominent role in the government’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and branded anyone ignoring social distancing rules and restrictions as "very selfish" prior to being caught having an extra-marital affair with Gina.
The affair was exposed after Hancock was caught on CCTV canoodling with Gina, with it believed that the images were leaked by an insider at the Department of Health on May 6, 2021.
But the pair still remain an item and Gina was in Australia waiting at the famous I'm A Celebrity bridge upon Hancock's exit from the jungle.
In Thursday night's episode of I'm A Celeb: Coming Out, Gina got emotional after hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly announced that Hancock had finished in third place.
As she got in the vehicle to take her to the ITV set, Gina said: "I'm so proud of him. I'm so proud of him."
As the couple embraced on the bridge, Matt told his partner: "You look amazing. I love you so much."
He added: "I'm so sorry it's been this long." She replied: "It's been awful."
Matt concluded: "It's going to be great from here on in." Gina retorted: "You don't know what lies ahead."
He endured three weeks on the popular ITV show after being a late addition alongside comedian Seann Walsh to camp. The pair initially had to do a Bushtucker Trial to win stars for main camp before joining their new campmates, who were stunned when the West Suffolk MP arrived.
Seann and Hancock had to do secret missions as 'moles' on their arrival in camp before the former Health Secretary was grilled by his campmates for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and his affair.
The affair was outed in 2021, just as it also came to light that Hancock had broken his own Covid lockdown rules – leading to his resignation from the Cabinet.
I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! is available to watch now on ITVX.
