Matt Hancock has finally found someone to route for him during his stint on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The former Health Secretary's girlfriend Gina Coladangelo is said to be flying to Australia to support the politician.
The 44-year-old's former aide will arrive Down Under next week, according to insiders.
That means the couple will be reunited once his time in the jungle comes to an end, more than a year after their affair cost Hancock his job as Health Secretary.
The pair were seen snogging on leaked CCTV footage from Whitehall which spelt the end of Hancock's marriage to wife Martha.
The Daily Star reports that Hancock's political career now looks set to be over thanks to his I’m A Celebrity gig.
The Tory party suspended him earlier this week and Climate Minister Graham Stuart, 60, has now defended the move.
He said: “MPs should be attending to their duties and with so many people working from home these days, it is possible to work from wherever you are in the world.
“It’s not really possible to do that from the jungle.
“While you’re eating various worms and sticking your head in unpleasant places, it’s quite hard to concentrate on what’s going on in your Suffolk constituency.”
Former Downing Street advisor Alastair Campbell, 65, also spoke out and said: “He’s a bit of a tw**. Let’s cut to the chase. He’s a bit of a tw**.”
Show chiefs have played down the backlash over Hancock being hired as a campmate while serving as an MP.
Executive producer Olly Nash said: “We’ve put in loads of politicians over the years, we also put in people who have had very strong views about certain things and sometimes it plays out in camp and sometimes it doesn’t.
“It’s not a question of trying to divide camp, we have never been a deliberately divisive camp. It’s up to them to come into the camp and it’s up to them if they want to leave.”
