Matt Hancock could win I'm A Celebrity after odds slashed in half after debut

Matt Hancock is now the sixth most likely campmate to be crowned the winner of I'm a Celebrity this year, according to the latest odds recorded by Ladbrokes this week.

The politician, 44 - who is the MP for West Suffolk - was announced as part of the ITV show's line-up recently. He was unveiled as a late addition to the jungle camp.

He made his debut in last night's episode alongside comedian Seann Walsh, 36. The pair took part in a bushtucker trial before being introduced to their co-stars.

Prior to entering camp, Matt said it would be "wonderful" to win the series. And the latest odds suggest that he's got more of a chance than some of his fellow campmates.

According to Ladbrokes, his odds have already been slashed in half. The bookies state that they have dropped from 25/1 to just 12/1 over him being crowned King of the Jungle.

His odds in relation to I'm a Celebrity just over a week ago were much different. It was reported he had odds of 5/2 on being evicted first and of 3/1 on him quitting the show.

Based on the latest odds though, he is currently the sixth most likely campmate to win. Leading the way in the betting is footballer Jill Scott, 35, who has odds to win of 7/4.

Former rugby union player Mike Tindall, 44, appears to also be a contender for the crown, with odds of 11/4. Whilst radio host Chris Moyles is listed with odds of 5/1 at the moment.

The odds suggest actor Owen Warner, 23, and comedian Babatunde Aléshé, 36, are among the five most likely to win. They have odds of 8/1 and 10/1 respectively.

Towards the end of the odds are singer Boy George, 61, (16/1) and Seann (18/1). Corrie's Sue Cleaver, 59, (33/1), presenter Scarlette Douglas, 35, (40/1) and journalist Charlene White, 42, (50/1) are at the bottom of the odds. Anything can happen though as the new series progresses.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes commented: "Punters are growing increasingly convinced that Matt Hancock could achieve the unthinkable Down Under by winning the series."

The latest Ladbrokes odds on who will win:

  • Jill Scott - 7/4
  • Mike Tindall - 11/4
  • Chris Moyles - 5/1
  • Owen Warner - 8/1
  • Babatunde Aleshe - 10/1
