Bros star Matt Goss joins Strictly Come Dancing 2022 as eighth contestant

Matt Goss has been confirmed for this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The Bros star was announced live on ITV's This Morning as the latest star to join the line-up, making them the eighth contestant to join the show alongside two Coronation Street actors and a Loose Women star.

It comes after Kaye Adams, Kym Marsh and Will Mellor all signed up to the show, with radio DJ Tyler West - who presents KISS FM's afternoon show - being the latest to be added to the line-up this morning live on KISS FM.

Also on the line-up is Paralympian Ellie Simmonds and comedian Jayde Adams, as well as Richie Anderson.

Speaking about signing up on the show, Matt - who recently returned to the UK - confessed it was so under wraps that he even had his own nickname for producers to use to ensure the secret wasn't revealed.

"I am looking forward to being home and meeting new people," he said, as he admitted his nerves for the upcoming series. He also insisted he would be back on stage with his brother Luke Goss soon too.

He added in a statement: "I’m extremely nervous and excited, but I’m optimistic because I’m very supple from the knees down."

Tyler was announced as the seventh contestant earlier today - and he admitted he was "so gassed" to be joining the show.

"I am so gassed to be joining the Strictly family! As I started writing this I already got cramp. It’s going to be one crazy incredible journey which will no doubt be SO far outside my comfort zone," he said, "It’s a show that means so much to me and my family and I can’t wait to seriously shake a leg on that shiny dance floor… with a side of sequins."

Over the weekend, Jayde Adams - an award-winning comedian - and Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds were confirmed for the show, with the sports star confessing it was a big "honour" to join the programme.

"I’ll be so, so nervous, and I will try not to think of all the people watching," she said, "My family and friends will support me and help me stay grounded. I am the first dwarf doing the show, I will show how positive that is, that to be different is OK.

"It is a real honour. It has been so hard, you just want to tell everyone. I told my other half Matt, and my parents, but I only told my sister this morning. It is a family tradition to watch it every year. To be part of it is so exciting. It’ll be great to swap the goggles and the hat for the sequences and the make-up."

Kaye Adams confirmed on last week's Loose Women that she will be on the show.

"I’m worried it’s going to look tragic, a woman of my age – the whole thing about trying to appear dancey when you’re older. There’s absolutely no shame being voted out in the first week. My goal is to try to enjoy it," she said.

"I am terrified. Everything in me wanted to say no. If I enjoy it, it will be a success. If I get voted out in the first week, so be it."

Matt has been on the show before, having performed in the Christmas special in 2013 where he danced alongside professional Aliona Vilani. He also appeared a year later, where he sang White Christmas.
