Matt Goss has claimed he was visited by his mother’s ghost after he was booted from Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Bros singer, 54, said his late mother Carol, who died from cancer in 2014, appeared "about five times" soon after he was voted off the BBC dance show.

Goss, who left the show on October 16, said: "The night after I left the series, I didn’t want to watch the show and I just wanted to be in my own bubble.

"I was getting streams of messages from people and that night I just lay in the dark listening to music.

"A bag fell off a shelf and then I said, ‘Mum is that you? If it’s you, can the music stop?’ And then the music stopped. Then it came back on and did it again."

"It happened about five times," he told The Sun.

"I knew it was my mum. It was unbelievable and this incredible, warm feeling came over me. It was a beautiful thing and I knew it was a sign everything would be OK."

Goss, who was partnered with Nadiya Bychkova, was the third star to be ditched from the dance floor after facing actress and television presenter Kym Marsh in the dreaded dance-off.

Following his exit, he told host Tess Daly: “It’s an extraordinary experience, I have been in America for 25 years.

“This lovely lady beside me, a world champion with all the patience. I am very honoured to have danced with you, and everyone who is still in, I love you guys. Go smash it, guys.”

He also discussed his short-lived Strictly experience on Twitter, writing: “I came on social media not knowing what to expect and I am completely humbled, and to be honest with you, very emotional at the outpouring and kindness that I have received.

“It was an incredibly big decision to come back to the UK.

“Thank you for making me feel like I’m home... My deepest love & thanks, Matt.”
