Former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz is set to host a weeknight political talk show on the conservative One America News Network (OANN) starting in January. The one-hour show will air at 9 p.m. Eastern, with Gaetz also co-hosting a weekly video podcast with OANN's Dan Ball.
Gaetz's move to OANN comes after withdrawing his name from consideration as President-elect Donald Trump's attorney general due to scrutiny over sex-trafficking allegations. Despite the controversy, Gaetz's hiring reflects the growing presence of conservative voices in the media landscape.
OANN, known for its limited television distribution compared to major networks like Fox News Channel and Newsmax, sees Gaetz's show as a significant addition to its lineup. The network's president, Charles Herring, expressed high expectations for Gaetz's program, citing the prime time slot as a testament to OANN's commitment to providing in-depth analysis of the incoming administration.
In addition to the television show, OANN is leveraging various media platforms such as streaming, podcasts, and social media to expand its reach and engage with viewers. Gaetz's podcast and collaboration with Dan Ball exemplify the network's efforts to diversify its content offerings.
Following Gaetz's withdrawal as Trump's attorney general nominee, he was replaced by Pam Bondi, former Florida attorney general. Gaetz faced investigations by the U.S. Justice Department and the House Ethics Committee regarding allegations of sexual misconduct involving underage girls, which he has vehemently denied.
