Matt Fitzpatrick is a major champion for the first time in his career after winning a thrilling U.S. Open by one stroke at The Country Club in Brookline, Ma.
It was an incredible week at the legendary venue and it ended with Fitzpatrick getting the biggest victory of his life thanks to one of the best shots of his life from the fairway bunker on 18.
It then all came down to the 18th green. Fitzpatrick was able to tap in for par and then Will Zalatoris just missed a birdie putt that would have sent things to a playoff.
Moments after the win, Fitzpatrick’s caddie, Bobby Foster, was seen kissing the flag on the 18th hole. It was a special moment for a man who has caddied in professional golf for 40 years but has never won a major.

Foster had caddied for Lee Westwood for a long time before moving over to Fitzpatrick’s bag in 2018. He has also worked for Seve Ballasteros, Sergio Garcia, Thomas Bjorn, Darren Clarke and Tiger Woods.
