Matt Eberflus’ message to Bears players after humiliating defeat

The Chicago Bears were embarrassed by the Kansas City Chiefs in a 41-10 loss on Sunday — in a game that wasn’t even as close as the final score indicated.

Chicago is now 0-3 on the season and riding a 13-game losing streak with their last win coming 11 months ago.

Head coach Matt Eberflus met with the media Monday, where he revealed his message to his team the morning after the humiliating defeat.

“I just challenged the guys this morning in the team room that every guy’s got to improve on their details,” he said. “The coaches are going to work with those guys in terms of the fundamentals at each position; get a couple things for the run, a couple things for the pass, a couple things on coverage, whatever unit you’re on, and we’re going to do our drills, our walk-throughs, our practices.

“Everything’s going to be based on those things to help that particular unit, help that particular guy out to improve on those details. That’s the plan we have this week. We have a great opportunity ahead of us this week and this week alone. Our focus is all on Denver. Our focus is on getting this thing right and executing at a high pace.”

So, we’re on to the Denver Broncos.

A Broncos team that just gave up 70 points to the Miami Dolphins. A Broncos team that was defeated by 50 points. A Broncos team that hasn’t won a game this season. A Broncos team that’s actually road favorites against the Bears.

With that said, this might be Chicago’s best opportunity to snap their 13-game losing streak. Both teams are in shambles, and someone has to win this game — or it could wind up a tie, the way their seasons have been going.
