In the midst of the Chicago Bears’ 41-10 loss to the Detroit Lions, many were wondering if quarterback Justin Fields would be pulled as a precaution to avoid any sort of unnecessary injury, as the Lions notched seven sacks on the day, and Fields was under constant pressure.
After the loss, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said that he, along with the coaching staff and Fields, had conversations before each drive on whether or not the young quarterback should go back in the game.
Eberflus added that the Bears view the in-game reps as valuable, and that Fields himself wanted to keep playing.
In terms of next week’s season finale against the Minnesota Vikings, Eberflus says it will be Fields who starts.
“If he’s healthy and good to go, he’s going,” Eberflus said.
Fields finished the day 7-of-21 for 75 yards with a touchdown and an interception while adding 10 carries for 132 yards, edging closer to breaking Lamar Jackson’s single-season rushing record.
