Matt Doherty pays tribute to Gian Piero after fitness coach dies aged 61

Matt Doherty has paid tribute to fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone, who died aged 61.

Tottenham announced the sad news of the much loved fitness coach on Thursday morning with tributes poured in.

Piero was known for his brutal fitness sessions but was hugely popular with Tottenham players and Matt Doherty paid tribute.

The Ireland international took to social media and said: "Amazing man"

Harry Kane also paid tribute, saying: "A truly remarkable man. I’m devastated by the passing of our coach Gian Piero. My love and strength is with his family at this time.

"His words and wisdom will live on with me for the rest of my life and I’m just grateful I had the opportunity to spend time with him. RIP Prof"

Tottenham broke the news, saying: "We are devastated to announce that fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone has passed away. He will be greatly missed by everyone at the Club and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this impossibly sad time."
