The luxurious Dublin pad which was once rented by Hollywood A-lister Matt Damon is back up for rent - after it was sold for €3.5M last year.
Ex Formula 1 Eddie Irvine's five-star former Dalkey home, ‘Ischia’, located on Sorrento Road in Dalkey can be rented for “short term only” for a pricey €8,400 a week.
Damon and his family stayed in the five-bedroom mansion at the start of lockdown for €7,000 a week back in 2020 and spent several months in the southside Dublin village after the pandemic shut down filming on Ridley Scott's The Last Duel.
After he left, the house finally sold for €3.5M after being on the market for nearly 20 years in April 2021.
And exactly a year later, the property is now back up for rent - €1,400 more a week than what Damon was charged.
According to its property description, it states: “Live amongst the stars with Bono, Van Morrison and The Edge in the celebrity enclave of Dalkey. 'Ischia', a unique, stunningly beautiful home is located on the Sorrento Road within a stone's throw of the sea and the beautiful Killiney Bay.
“You can take a stroll down to Dalkey village, which has an array of wonderful restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars... We are delighted to bring 'Ischia' to the market for short term letting (minimum stay three nights).”
Designed by award winning architects in an elevated position, it extends to over 5,000 sq.ft, and affords wonderful sea views. It comes to the market fully furnished.
At ground level, accommodation comprises steps up to entrance door which open onto a large dining area, with cloakroom to the left. Spectacular, fully integrated light-filled kitchen. The downstairs accommodation includes five generous sized double bedrooms, four of which are ensuite and one main bathroom.
Lucky guests can enjoy a sauna, jacuzzi and plunge pool. The games room opens onto the external pool area, which houses a bar counter and snooker table. There is timber decking with extensive seating and barbecue area surrounding the flood lit heated swimming pool. The upstairs accommodation opens onto a wonderful living area with panoramic sea views. There is a self-contained office area off the living area.
The property is fully alarmed. There is gas fired central heating, and ample parking. The house is approached through high electric gates off a shared private driveway.
“The beaches of White Rock and Killiney, a number of parks, wonderful restaurants, cafes and bars are all in close proximity. Dalkey is serviced by excellent transport links, including the DART, and M50 which is a short drive away. There are also several bus services to the City Centre, and the Aircoach which travels directly to Dublin Airport. Rent includes TV and internet broadband, gas and electricity and water and waste charges. There is a €200 end of stay cleaning fee,” added the property description.
Damon previously hailed the southside seaside town as "one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been".
Speaking with Spin 1038 Breakfast show ‘Fully Charged with Graham and Nathan’ during his stay, Damon said: "We’ve got this kind of incredible set up in this place, it’s just absolutely gorgeous.
"Even in the lockdown, they’re like you’ve gotta stay within two kilometres of your house, I mean two kilometres of here there’s trees and forests and woods and oceans, I can’t think of any place else you’d rather want to be in a two kilometre radius of.
"We were supposed to leave last week because the movie was meant to be done by now but we’re staying ‘til the end of the kids’ school year just because it’s so peaceful here and everybody’s handling it so well. You walk down the street, everybody’s minding all the guidelines.”
Hollywood neighbour Bono even joked how annoyed he was over Damon’s cult status in his hometown.
He said jokingly at the time: “I’ve lived in this village, or next to this village, for 30 years,” Bono told GQ Magazine for a prolife of the Bourne star.
“This f**er is there for three months and they make him the king of Dalkey! I mean, it’s unbelievable.
"He’s caught in some kind of local photo shoot with a SuperValu plastic bag, and the rumour that he’s carrying cans, and suddenly he’s got all this credibility that some of us just are incapable of ever achieving.
“He’s beloved! I mean, there’ll be a statue of him there. I don’t know what it was, and what he did. But I’m very annoyed about it. I’m not happy at all.”
