Matheus Nunes '£38m deal agreed' with Liverpool Premier League rivals

Matheus Nunes is set to move to the Premier League - but it won't be with Liverpool.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Nunes has been frequently credited as a target for the Reds. The 23-year-old has also apparently attracted interest from Manchester City and West Ham.

However, according to a new report in The Guardian , Liverpool won't be buying Nunes after Wolves agreed a deal with the Portuguese club. It has been claimed that Wolves will pay the buyout clause in Nunes’ contract, which will make him their club-record signing.

It has been reported that Wolves will pay £38million for the signing of Nunes. Should a deal be completed, it will see Nunes join Goncalo Guedes as a new addition for the West Midlands club.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Nunes since before the transfer window opened. The Portugal international was tipped to be a potential signing as the Reds were linked with a host of new midfielders.

Jurgen Klopp has previously spoken about the club’s transfer activity. In his press conference on Friday, the German said that he did not expect to see any more incoming business completed.

Sporting director Julian Ward has already helped complete three deals this summer. Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay are the three newest additions to Liverpool’s squad for the new season.
