Leeds United's Mateusz Klich reflects on 'unbelievable' Liverpool game as he relishes Anfield challenge

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is hoping they can perform even better than the last time the Whites visited Anfield.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were denied an impressive point by a late Mo Salah penalty as they were defeated 4-3 in their first game back in the Premier League.

Klich was on the scoresheet for Leeds that day as he finished off a sweeping move that helped show the division exactly what they were all about.

This season, Leeds have found the division a much tougher proposition as they are one of a number of sides battling to beat the drop.

Despite that, Klich is expecting an even better game than the one on Merseyside last season thanks to the return of supporters.

Speaking to leedsunited.com, he said: “It was a good game last season, I scored.

“It was exciting as not many of us had played in the Premier League before and we saw the schedule with Liverpool away for the first game and they were the best team in Europe at that point.

“It was an unbelievable game, my dream was to score a goal in the Premier League and I did it.

“Even though we lost 4-3, everyone was very positive about us and excited and we only left with good feelings.

“This game is going to be better though with the fans as well, so I’m sure it will be a good game.”

The trip to Liverpool is the second of three daunting fixtures in the space of just six days for the Whites.

Leeds were defeated 4-2 by Manchester United on Sunday and conclude the week with a home clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

While on paper it could not get much harder, Klich believes that no game in the Premier League is easy regardless of opposition.

He said: “Liverpool are one of the best teams in the country, especially when Virgil Van Dijk came back, now they’re now back to the shape they were in when they won the Premier League and Champions League.

“It is another tough game and then we have Tottenham, but there are no easy games in the Premier League.

“If someone thinks for example thinks playing Burnley away is way easier than playing Liverpool, it is not right, because they are all difficult games in the Premier League and all difficult opponents.

“This is going to be massive for our fans and us, I personally love playing in big games and I can’t wait.”
