If we could choose a store on the high street that caters to the majority of Merseyside shoppers now- it would have to be Matalan.
With huge departments available in store and online, shoppers can make the most of deals across mens, women, kids, home and beauty. But, what makes it so special to Liverpool women in general?
After spending my afternoon traipsing around my my local Matalan store in Hunts Cross Shopping Centre I found ten reasons why we will always love a good mooch around a Matalan department store, as well as some tremendous deals.

The dresses are viral hits online
We have already covered some incredibly stylish outfits available in store- here's a handful of them.
This comfortable jumpsuit is a hit at just £22 - The product description reads: "Love your denims? Branch out your collection with this trendy jumpsuit. Cool and contemporary, the jumpsuit is cut from soft 100% and styled in mid wash denim.
Shoppers described the jumpsuit as "so fabulous" and "very beautiful" and the Facebook post received over 840 likes.
The stretchy Et Vous midi dress is also a much loved item, it's fitted at the bodice with a V neckline and fluted short sleeves, with style guidelines advising to team it with 'your favourite pair of heels'.
Among the reviews, one shopper said: "Love this dress, so comfortable. Two friends who saw me wearing it have both bought it too! Washes really well."
The menswear basics look expensive
Be sure to check out the basics. I found that the menswear in store felt really luxurious. The store seem to create collections packed with great materials for much cheaper than other stores.
So, when it's his birthday (dads, boyfriends, brothers, etc) the Matalan men's range is definitely worth a try. I even felt the men's dressing gowns during my visit and wow, I could practically live in one they were that comfy..
There are dupe versions of Skim's seam free underwear for less
This is also a great collection of seamless underwear I didn't realise Matalan had available in store. Skims, created by Kim Kardashian, is a brand which have all the seam free, soft underwear items you could dream of, for a hefty fee.
Matalan offers a much more affordable alternative like this pack of 3 for £8.
The gymwear is bright and colourful
Gone are the days of entering a store to find black and grey ill fitting gym leggings. Gymwear has come on leaps and bounds in a huge attempt to keep us all more active and feeling good about our appearance when training,
Matalan have a great range of different shapes and sizes for all to pick from.
The baby section is beautiful
There is plenty to say about the baby collection at my local Matalan. The set up was stunning with plenty of neutrals and high quality options.
Forget blue and pink, because Matalan have an array of mint greens, lemons and creamy colours on offer for newborns.
The kids essentials are really good quality
For me, it says a lot about a store when the kids section has pastel, neutral colours that don't seem like cheap material. The boys section had some really lovely beige and greens in their basic joggers and jumper sets which I even picked up for my son.
The homeware is so reasonably priced
I've just bought a new bed spread and was looking for some soft furnishing inspiration whist visiting. I couldn't help picking up a gorgeous soft fluffy cream cushion for just £5 and a pineapple & coconut scented candle reduced from £8 tp £4- it smells insane and so strong (just how I like them!)
Also, the Marl Fleece blankets softness are absolutely unmatched.
Claire's Accessories are a great addition to the store
The Claire's Accessories section will win the heart's of all the little girls in store.
So much so that when in there it had three families, all with little girls, raiding the shelves for holidays and school uniform matching scrunchies.
It really took me back to me heading their when I was little with my mum- OH the nostalgia!
The beauty section features Sleek Make Up
I remember first coming across Sleek Make Up inside a Glossybox subscription box and I fell in love with their palettes. It was the medium Cream Contour Kit and I absolutely loved it- you can pick these up in store for just £11.
The luggage options are endless
The luggage section of this store was ridiculously good. I have never seen a luggage section this brimming with different styles, colours, shapes and sizes.
Am I the only person who never knew Matalan was the place to go for luggage? I'm in shock with the options. Most of the more popular sizes were so fairly priced at between £35-£55.
