MasterChef star John Torode announces 'dream come true' career move

A MasterChef star has described his new role as a 'dream come true'. Cooking judge John Torode will be on a new ITV show cooking with his wife Lisa Faulkner.

The pair will travel 500 miles along the coast of Western Australia for the show, reports Birmingham Live. John said: "To have this exciting opportunity to make a show exploring more of the incredible country I was born in, and to have my wife alongside me creating more memories and discovering Australia on every level, is an absolute dream come true."

Lisa added: “John often gets misty-eyed over Australia, so to understand that connection by revisiting the old and exploring the new together will just be magical. I can’t wait!”

Torode is a MasterChef judge alongside Gregg Wallace on BBC, but he is also a regular guest chef on the ITV daytime show, This Morning. He is also a judge on Celebrity Masterchef and co-hosts John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen on Saturday and Sunday mornings with his wife.

In 2012, Lisa’s first cookery book 'Recipes From My Mother For My Daughter' was published, and reached number one on The Times non-fiction list. Her subsequent cookbooks 'The Way I Cook', 'Tea and Cake', and 'From Mother to Mother', were also bestsellers.

Head of MGM Alternative, Barry Poznick, said: “It has been incredible to watch the growth of our UK business in the last three years. This latest partnership with ITV to produce John & Lisa’s Food Trip Down Under means that we are now producing quality content for all major broadcasters in the UK, from major Saturday night entertainment and peak-time formats, through to documentaries and daytime series.”

The ITV programme will be a five-part series. The series will be produced in conjunction with travel firm Trailfinders and has secured “on-the-ground support” from Tourism Western Australia.
