Ever since MasterChef Australia began, there has always been one topic fresh on the minds of fans, viewers and Redditors: Do the judges taste the food cold?
In the past, the MasterChef Australia judges — Andy Allen, Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Cristophe Novelli — have admitted that the food they taste during the judging process is no longer steaming hot.
However, according to Sofia, the facts have become a bit muddled — and she’s determined to clear things up.

“This is a bit of a misnomer, because the food we eat isn’t cold. At worst, it’s probably room temperature,” Sofia tells PEDESTRIAN.TV from the MasterChef Australia set.
“The thing that people don’t see on camera is we go around as soon as that clock finishes, and we do hot tastings.”
The second that each cooking session finishes, Sofia, Andy and Poh diligently visit every contestant’s work station to try all of the hot elements of each dish.
However, she notes that Jean-Christophe prefers to sample the dish as a whole.
“We try everything as soon as it’s finished cooking, so that we know what it’s like and it’s best possible form,” Sofia continues.
“Then we have this incredible team to ensure that it is as similar as physically possible to when it was finished. So when we come back after lunch. We’re trying food for the second time, would you believe it, so we’re extra full!”
Interesting, no?
