An award-winning chef from the west coast of Scotland will be taking part in MasterChef: The Professionals this month it has been announced.

Returning to BBC One for its 15th series, MasterChef: The Professionals will welcome 23-year-old chef Sagar Massey of The Rabbit Restaurant at Marine Troon who will be going head to head with other chefs in a bid to win the trophy.

Over six weeks, contestants will be put through their paces to win the prestigious title. Starting with the Heat, Sagar will cook against three other chefs to secure a spot in that week’s Quarter Final.

Sagar said: ‘‘It has been a career highlight to take part in MasterChef: The Professionals. I had the privilege of cooking alongside some of the best talents in the country, which was exciting. I can’t wait to watch it together with my family and friends.’’

Since moving to the UK from Bulandshahr, New Delhi in 2014, Sagar has been consistently recognised for his talent.

Throughout his time at West College of Scotland studying Professional Cookery, Sagar was a finalist for Young National Chef of The Year (2020 and 2021); was awarded a gold medal at the Young Scottish Chef of The Year (2019); and won UK Young Seafood Chef of The Year (2018).

Sagar will be on MasterChef: The Professionals will be on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on Wednesday 8pm.
