Oasis fans went into meltdown over the weekend after a rumour spread online that they preparing to release their first new music in almost two decades after it was teased that “massive” news was coming Monday.
Radio X DJ Dan O’Connell sewed the first seeds by saying on air Friday that something supersonic was coming out.
He said: “I got a message from very important people at Radio X. They told me to make sure I mention that on Monday morning Chris Moyles has something big for Oasis fans. If that is you, there is something massive happening.”
Adding further fuel to the fire, Tiktok videos and Instagram posts then also claimed to have snippets of new audio from a mixing desk, with others speculating that a new single would be debuted.
Some even dared to hope that an entire album could follow ahead of their sold out reunion tour next year.

While one day those things may come to pass, today is not that day, with Radio X instead announcing a competition to win tickets to see Oasis live.
A source admitted to The Mirror that “the rumour got a life of its own”.
Insisting the radio station’s competition as “still something to celebrate”, they acknowledged it was “not the big announcement some fans were hoping for”.
Oasis - who formed in the early 90s and split in 2009 following tensions between sibling members Liam and Noel Gallagher - announced in August that they were putting their differences aside for a reunion tour.
The Wonderwall hit-makers are set to perform a number of gigs in the UK, Ireland, Australia, the US and Mexico.
Demand for tickets was “unprecedented” and while fans felt like all of their Christmases had come at once, many balked at the eye-watering prices.
