Connor Coyle has revealed he is open to fighting Jason Quigley in a massive all Irish bout on the Katie Taylor Croke Park undercard.
The undefeated Coyle (16-0-0), is expected to be made mandatory challenger for the WBA 'Regular' Middleweight title. That would see him face off with Erislandy Lara (29-3-3), the man who defeated Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan just last weekend.
Coyle put himself in pole position to fight Lara after winning the vacant NABA Middleweight title last month. Should the Lara fight not be made, Coyle has his targets set on someone much closer to home.
He told irish-boxing.com: “The Quigley question is being brought up, it’s not me mentioning it. I’m just answering. If the fight was made, yes I’d definitely want it in Croke park. But we both have other paths, so we’ll just have to see if someone offers it.”
Quigley (19-2-0) last fought in November 2021. On that occasion, the Donegal man came up short in his quest to become WBO World Middleweight Champion, as he was easily dispatched by Demetrius Andrade.
With the prospect of a homecoming Katie Taylor fight in the autumn looking increasingly likely, Coyle and Quigley may well be on an unavoidable collision course.
