A 22-year-old Massachusetts man told officers "This is so funny" while being booked in connection to his mother's Tuesday murder, according to a report.
Thadeus A. Joseph, 22, of Avon, faces murder charges in the death of his mother, 53-year-old Astrid Joseph, WCVB-5 reported.
"They saw a Black female lying facedown with her head turned to the side inside the pantry door," prosecutor Christine Cullen said according to the TV station. "There was a pool of blood on the floor next to her head and a carving knife with blood on it next to her body."
According to prosecutors, Thadeus' father, Yval, heard an altercation during a phone call with Astrid. "The phone sounded as if it was on speaker, and he heard the defendant say, 'I have your phone.' He then heard his wife respond, saying, 'I'm your mother. Give me the phone.' The phone then disconnected," Cullen, according to the station.
When he was being booked for his mother's murder, Joseph allegedly said, "This is so funny; all I had to do was kill my mom, and then this is it," CBS News reported.
Joseph reportedly told his parents he was dealing with anxiety on Saturday and thinking of hurting himself. According to prosecutors, on Tuesday he stayed home from work for his mental health and began arguing with his mother around 10 a.m. CBS News reported.
